NEWS FROM FHIMA LEADERSHIP MEETING
Lisa and Lee attended the FHIMA Leadership meeting in Orlando on 8/27 and 8/28. Several topics were covered including association financial growth, membership, legislation and the strategic plan for 2010/2011. Please see the items listed below for a list of topics FHIMA is working on.
- FHIMA Board will implement bi-monthly meetings starting in September.
- Regional leaders will meet with their local legislators to make their presence and profession known.
- Implement coding roundtable sessions (including inpatient, physician level and risk adjustment) at the regional level.
- Elevate status of HIM profession by promoting HIT week in November.
- Provide HIM speaker at different association meetings, i.e. FHA.
- Increase communication using social media (Facebook), e-blasts and letters to credentialed non-AHIMA members.
- Increase membership to AHIMA/FHIMA and regions by 5%.
- Focus on leadership.
- Mentor students through Bridge-the-Gap and F.I.R.E.
